I discovered Viva a Brotolândia by Elis Regina while weeding the Musique du Monde collection, and I have to admit, the first thing that caught my eye was the beautiful smile on the album cover. I had never heard of Elis Regina before, but something about her joyful expression made me curious, so I decided to take it home. And I’m so glad I did!
From the first track, I was hooked. Her voice is absolutely captivating! The melodies are incredibly sweet, and there's something about the Portuguese language that makes the songs feel even more magical.
What really surprised me, while researching the album for this catalog, is that Viva a Brotolândia was Elis Regina's first album. I honestly thought it was a compilation of her work—such a rich and diverse collection of songs! It’s just the beginning, and I can’t wait to dive deeper into her discography. What an amazing discovery!
