I discovered fado through Mónica Cunha, and it was a revelation. I had the privilege of organizing a fado concert at the library and invited her to perform. What followed was a truly unforgettable evening—our expectations were far exceeded, with far more people attending than we had planned for. It was a massive success, not just in numbers, but in emotion and atmosphere.
That night marked my very first live fado experience, and Monica’s voice carried the soul of the genre with such grace and intensity that it left a lasting impression on me. At the end of the evening, she gifted me this CD — a gesture I will always treasure. On a personal note, the event also brought me closer to A.'s family and heritage, as they are Portuguese.
Cor-de-Fado will always remind me of that magical evening—a beautiful introduction to a music tradition I now deeply cherish.
