I bought Sarmates – Sarmates at their concert in Brasserie de l'Apocalypse in Vernon — a night I’ll never forget. The show was electrifying, with incredible steppe and Mongolian-inspired vocals that carried raw emotion and power. The melodies were both haunting and energizing, weaving traditional sounds into something fresh and alive. The fire spectacle during the performance added a primal, almost mythical energy that made the entire experience feel otherworldly.
What made it even more special was meeting the singer afterward — a genuinely cool and grounded person. We talked for a while, and that short connection made the music hit even harder.
That night happened during a really tough period in my life. My dad had stopped talking to me, and I was feeling lost and disconnected. This concert — and this album reminded me not to give up, not to let the darkness win. Every time I play Sarmates, I’m reminded to keep going, to stay strong, and to keep living.
