Black Stories: C'est la Vie

Genre: Deduction

I first came across Black Stories: C’est la Vie when A. bought it during a vacation we took to Le Touquet. We were hoping it would be similar to a game we’d enjoyed before, where you start with the ending of a strange story and then ask yes/no questions to piece together how things got to that point. On the surface, it sounded similar. However, once we started playing, we quickly realized that this wasn’t quite what A. was looking for. The tone of the game was much darker than expected—some of the stories were downright grim or tragic. In the end, the game just didn’t match what A. had hoped for, and it didn’t become a favorite for us.
